Sanitation Program
Rumpke provides our sanitation services on Thursday of each week. This includes weekly collection of household waste and recycling; and, seasonal yard waste collection. Rumpke provides a 95-gallon cart (toter) for trash and an 18-gallon bin for recycling. Place your waster at the curb no earlier than 6 PM Wednesday.
- What may I set out for trash collection?
- Normal household garbage. This includes food matter, household trash, and discarded household items that will fit into your Rumpke toter.
- How much may I set out?
- Rumpke will empty your toter plus additional trash properly contained in standard trashcans (30-32 gallons) or standard garbage bags.
- Are there any exceptions?
- Rumpke will collect one large item, such as a piece of furniture.
- Loose items should be bundled, not to exceed four feet in length or 70 lbs.
- What is non-household trash?
- Construction debris
- Yard waste
- Hazardous Materials/ CFC’s, such as Freon
- Tires/Batteries/Liquids, such as oil or paint
- What if I have an unusual amount of trash or an extremely large item?
- Rumpke may charge for some oversized items or for extremely large amounts of non-household trash. Call for more information. (502) 568-3800.
- How do I place the trash cart at the curb?
- The cart opening should face the street.
- Unfasten the bungee cord.
- Place the cart away from the mailbox.
- Do not place trash/recycling/yard waste next to or on the cart.
- What may I recycle?
- Plastics #1 through #7
- Aluminum cans/Bi-metal cans
- Glass bottles and jars of all colors
- Newspapers
- Junk mail
- Cardboard broken down 2’ x 2’
- What is considered yard waste?
- Grass, weeds, leaves/ Shrubbery.
- Prunings and branches, not more than 3 inches in diameter or 4 feet in length.
- How do I dispose of yard waste?
- Place in standard (30-32 gallon) trashcans, labeled “yard waste”.
- Place in standard plastic or paper bags, labeled “yard waste”.
- Loose items should be bundled, not to exceed four feet in length or 50 lbs.
- When is yard waste collected?
- The yard waste season runs from April through December. A special Christmas tree collection is provided Thursday during the second week of January.
- What holidays are observed?
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- Collection will be on Friday if the holiday occurs on Monday through Thursday. Holidays on Fri-Sat-Sun do not effect your collection day.
